My baby just turned eight this week. I can’t believe how fast she is growing up, seems like yesterday when I had her. Since she is my baby every birthday seems to get a little harder. This year she is all into Pokemon Go, I now have a vast knowledge of all Pokemon creatures, their evolved states, and their powers. It is literally all she talks about so of course when it came time to throw her a party we had to go on the search for an awesome Pokemon party. Luckily I found everything I needed in one place, Oriental Trading Company. They had everything we needed and I was able to throw her an amazing party (sure to make her cool at the school for the rest of the year) on a budget.
We had to have really cool invitations and I wasn’t really sure what I wanted. I wasn’t sure what was on the market when it comes to Pokemon invitations. I had recently made a personalized planner with a company called PurpleTrail and I knew they had some great invitations as well. Little did I know that they must have a large request for Pokemon invites because when I logged in they had a Pokemon invite all ready to go.
The process was so simple. I was fully prepared to try to make and design an invite for her but was so surprised to find an invite that was all designed and ready to go on the PurpleTrail site. All I had to do was put in the personal information, the entire process only took a few minutes. These invites were so cute, she loved them. They sent them with envelopes which I could have had our address printed on as well but choose not to. However, I feel like it could save you a lot of time if you were mailing them, we were just handing them out so it wasn’t a service we needed. They came printed perfectly in only a few days, couldn’t believe how fast the shipping was. So cool!

Pokemon Party Decor:
We found all the party supplies at Oriental Trading Company. I wasn’t really sure the best place to go for party supplies and figured I would have to go to several stores but when I logged into Oriental Trading Company’s site I was surprised to see they had everything we needed at great prices. I was able to get everyone at one place and have it shipped so I never had to leave the house. All the party supplies really made the party come to life.
Pikachu & Friends Jumbo Letter Banner:
This banner was so neat. It’s really big so we spread it out over the door (please excuse our uneven hanging it was really high and we are short). It came with various numbers for the ball in the middle of happy & birthday so you can personalize it to your child’s age. It had all the numbers and the th, st, and nd so you can make any number you need.

Pikachu & Friends Table Cloth & Table Decorating Kit:
I found this awesome table cloth (54’X 96′) that made a great backdrop for all the party decor. The table decorating kit included three table centers and twenty pokeball pieces that you could spread out around the table. It really made the table come to life. Very vibrant and full of color. I loved that the table cloth was plastic so if we had any spills or anything we could easily clean them up (thankfully we didn’t have any though). The kids loved the table centers they were so much fun.

Pikachu & Friends Plates & Napkins:
Oriental Trading Company had a great selection of plates and napkins that were great to have on hand for cake. We got her cake at a local bakery and had a pokeball spray painted on it. It is actually a cookie cake but it was super yummy. The plates and napkins were a cute way to serve it.

Pikachu & Friends Latex Balloons:
What is a party without balloons? We found this adorable set of Pokemon latex balloons on the Oriental Trading site that included three yellow and three blue balloons. The yellow have Pikachu and the blue have Meowth. They blow up to a pretty big size, I was surprised at how well they blew up. We took them to a local store to have them blown up and put strings on them. They really made the party fun.

Pikachu & Friends Treat Bags & Party Favor Packs:
My daughter loves to pass out treat bags at her parties so I always try to put something together. These can get expensive though when you try to find things to put in them. Oriental Trading Company made it so easy they had the treat bags we needed that matched all the other decor and they had these great party packs that were full of fun Pokemon toys to fill the bags with. I even got a large package of candy from Oriental Trading to help fill them up.

Oriental Trading Company was a life saver on this party. They had everything we needed in the price range we needed it in. Even if your kiddo is not into Pokemon they have tons of themes to choose from on their site. It’s a great one stop shop. As a busy mom I was so thankful I didn’t have to run around to several stores to find all these things and I could just have shipped to us. Couldn’t be easier.

DIY Pokemon Magnet Party Game:
My daughter had one request when we discussed what we would do at her party. She was having a pizza party so I wanted to have something fun for the kids to do after they were finished eating. All my daughter said was she wanted to hunt Pokemon while she was at the party. If you know anything about Pokemon Go then you know you have to have a phone or tablets with data to play. So I wasn’t really sure how we would hunt Pokemon at the party. My husband and I brainstormed and we came up with the idea to make our own magnets and hide them all around the venue for the kids to hunt. They could have fun hunting them and have a fun little magnet they could take home. If they didn’t like the one they got they could trade them just like the game. They were pretty easy to make.
What You Need:
- Photos of various Pokemon characters
- Exacto Knife
- Magnet Sheets
We printed our Pokemon characters by taking screen shots from the game and had them printed on photo paper (I would leave you some images to print but I don’t have permission from Pokemon). However, they are pretty easy to get. Cut them out with scissors or an exacto knife. I cut mine down pretty close with scissors and then used the blade to get all the details around the edges.
Peel off the backing on a section of the magnet paper and apply the cut out figure. Then cut around again making sure to not leave any magnet paper exposed. You could also apply the photo to the magnet paper first and cut around it on the magnet paper but I was try to cut down on waste on the magnet paper so I cut them out first and then cut around again.
Now you have a cute little Pokemon magnet. We spread them out all over the venue and the kids had a blast searching for them. They were trading them and playing with them. Then they could take them home with them at the end of the party as a favor.
