Unlike any other drink, coffee just pairs the best with breakfast. Imagine an early crisp morning and you smell bacon and eggs. Coffee is just naturally part of that equation.
Or, picture a warm croissant next to an ice-cold glass of cold brew iced coffee. Coffee is what makes mornings delightful!
But what if you want to venture out and get creative with your breakfast coffee pairing? To help you tap into your culinary side, we’ll tell you where to find recipes that pair breakfast with coffee.
Cross Country Cafe
This first website gives us the most interesting coffee recipes regarding Keurig. As a national distributor of Keurig coffee products (promo codes here, here), the owners of Cross Country Cafe write drink recipe blogs involving Keurig regularly.
For example, they gave us a recipe for Toasted S’Mores Mocha made with a Keurig brewer. How extravagant (and delectable) does that look?
But how can we find recipes that pair breakfast with coffee?
Well, we can start here on their guide for Keurig K-cup Coffee and Dessert Pairings. While they don’t link recipes, it’s a good place to start.
For example, “light roast coffees will enhance the flavors of light cakes and cookies such as Angel Food Cake.”
We can study this guide before looking up recipes. On to the next!
The Keurig Blog has a special breakfast section and it actually has super helpful information on finding recipes that pair breakfast with coffee. Because it’s a coffee retailer based blog, it’s safe to assume all of these recipes will go with a nice K-cup.
However, they do offer specific recipes (just what we’re looking for!). Try making the healthy Savory Breakfast Grain Bowl and pair it with the Keurig breakfast blend coffee.
How about the Summer Sunrise Brunch? This is a maple bacon recipe that pairs perfectly with Keurig’s Green Mountain Coffee Limited Edition Summer Sunrise Blend (plus right now, Keurig is offering a promo code for 15% off your order).
The recipes are clearly spelled out and easy to follow.
The blog doesn’t just offer breakfast pairings. There’s a ton more to read and learn, including discounts and sales.
It’s more than likely that you’ve cooked something in your life using a recipe from Allrecipes.com. Where else can you find such easy recipes with reviews, insightful comments, and useful photos?
The Allrecipes staff created an article on their website where you can get some ideas on what to make with what coffee. They get seriously detailed – and we love it!
They list the specific characteristics of the coffee that you should pair with what breakfast treats.
For example, they say to pair Latin American coffee with bright and tangy flavors with a recipe for mouthwatering “To Die For Blueberry Muffins.”
That would start the morning off right!
This kind of coffee can also be paired with other desserts including this recipe for this tasty looking Pecan Coffee Cake for those who want coffee involved in the whole thing.
As Rachael Ray says, “Yum-O!”
Matching Food & Wine
Now wait a minute, wasn’t this article supposed to be about coffee pairing?
Yes! But Fiona Beckett took a break from wine pairing on her Matching Food & Wine website to help out coffee lovers, too.
Beckett is a famous award-winning food and wine writer and knows a thing or two about food and drink pairing. She is a wine columnist for The Guardian and has written a whopping 24 books on food, wine, and beer.
Though she mostly works with wine, we trust her extremely experienced palate.
Her What Food to Pair With Coffee article is going to let us explore different options for our AM java and morning treats. Within this article, you’ll find links to recipes to make along with the suggestions.
If you’re into sweet coffee, Beckett says to match that with “almost any kind of chocolate bars, cake or cookies, especially brownies and chocolate chip cookies.” She provides a link that explains a more in-depth analysis of the match between Union Coffee Roasters black coffee and Divine Chocolate Company (codes here) made brownies.
Breakfast food that pairs with coffee are about as good as it gets. And Delish knows that. This is why they wrote a helpful article about pairing “kicked-up treats” with your morning coffee.
The created an entire gallery of breakfast items to pair with coffee including this Fried Egg and Bacon Puff Pastry Squares recipe.
You’ll also find a coffee-friendly recipe for Goat Cheese Quiche with Hash-Brown Crust. Wow.
The Spruce also got into the mix, writing a long page on how to pair coffee with breakfast food.
Find an abundance of baked good pairings, fruit pairings, and general breakfast food and coffee pairings all on one page.
With tons of links out to recipes that go with coffee, you’ll be set with breakfast choices to make at home that’ll go with light or dark coffee.
Mr. Coffee Blog
Even though this is technically another site that doesn’t give specific recipes, it deserves a mention. This list is all about donuts and what to coffee to match with each flavor.
The Mr. Coffee Blog from coffee retailer Mr. Coffee (discounts here & here) gives the lowdown on what specific coffee drinks go with what donuts.
For example, they say a regular plain cake donut and straight black coffee go together because since the cake donut is dense and only a little sweet, the simple flavors work in harmony.
Another helpful tip is the jelly donut. It pairs well with a cappuccino because of the milky foam pairs with the “intensity of the sugary fruit filling.”
Now you’ll just have to do a little more work and find the recipe for a good jelly donut (here, we’ll help you).
