With Valentine’s Day right around the corner, our weekend craft days have been dedicated to making Valentine’s Day gifts for family and friends. This weekend we made some super cute Valentine’s Day photo books with some cute foam hearts we found at our local Dollar General. These were super easy to make and a lot of fun. Makes great gifts for loved ones. You can fill them with some of your favorite photos or give them without photos so your loved one can add their own. I have included some quick instructions if you would like to recreate.
We got all of our supplies on clearance last year after Valentine’s Day at Dollar General. I’m sure they have similar probably this year as well or you can pick these up at any kind of craft supply store. I have included links to where you can find them on Amazon.
Foam Hearts (1 glitter and 3 to 4 plain) *Note if you can’t find foam hearts you could cut out of paper also and then apply glitter to one.
Foam Stickers (we used a Love Bug and Love Heart)
These are super easy and only take a few minutes. They are easy enough that kids of all ages can make them. Younger kids might need a little help punching the holes but it’s very simple so it’s a great craft for the kiddos.
First, we started by punching two holes (one on each side at the top). I used a two-hole punch because the hearts we had fit perfectly and it made them even. If you are using foam hearts you have to punch them one at a time.
Once you have your holes punched you can line up all the hearts and string the ribbon through. The glitter on the ribbon is a bit messy but you get to look like a fairy for the rest of the day so that is fun. We tied ours in a knot because the glitter ribbon is pretty stiff and difficult to tie in bows but if you are not using glitter ribbon then a bow might be super cute.
Finally, add your stickers to the front. We used love bug for the red but found some really cute felt hearts for the pink one. Whatever you have laying around will do. A great way to use up any leftover stickers you might have. I prefer the kid that are peel and stick so I don’t have to try to use glue on the glitter. They stick really well and much easier.
Now you can add photos if you like. We didn’t add photos to ours we plan to give them without so our loved ones can fill them up. If you want to add just cut them down to fit the heart and use some adhesive to secure. Make sure to use an adhesive that is safe to use on photos. Super cute and lots of fun.
