If you read our blog, then you may know that we love games. With the holidays coming up we were on the lookout for some games that would travel well and would be fun to play while on the road and traveling. These games from SmartGames are great gift ideas as well, fun to give to your loved ones that love to play games or love puzzles. These are all one player games and feature puzzles that are challenging and fun. SmartGames has fun puzzle games for every age level making them a huge hit for everyone on your holiday shopping list this year.
IQ Focus is a really fun game suitable for ages 8 and up. It features little tiles that you use to form colored patterns to figure out the puzzles. There is a booklet included with 120 challenges. They will give you a 3X3 graph representing the 9 squares in the very center that show through the clear section on the lid. Use the tiles to match the color pattern on those 9 squares then fill in the rest of the pieces to make them all fit. Close the lid to make sure your puzzle matches the challenge. It’s a really fun game that will keep your challenged all day long. The age recommendation is 8 and older but I would say this one is a little more difficult. My teenager really loved it but my 8-year-old struggled with it. It’s a great game for tweens/teens. The self-contained puzzles are great for travel. Everything fits inside the case and you can easily take it with you anywhere. It’s small and light-weight and would easily fit into a purse, backpack, or suitcase.
Jumpin‘ is a really fun puzzle game. Suitable for ages 7 and up. In this really fun game, you use the pieces included to set up the puzzles depicted in the challenge booklet. Your goal is to jump over the mushrooms and foxes to get the rabbits into one of the brown holes. You can only move a rabbit by jumping over a piece. It looks really easy but it’s more challenging then you think. My daughter loves this game, she plays it all the time. She is 8-years-old so it’s great for that 8-10-year-old group as a gift idea. As you can see it’s a lot of fun. The challenges start out easy and get harder so you can customize it to your child’s skill level. It’s great for travel, the game board has a lid so everything is contained. It’s small and easy to carry. Fits well in a purse, backpack, etc. We plan to use this one in the car a lot this holiday season.
Temple Connection is a ton of fun too. Suitable for ages 7 and up. In this game, you use the slides to connect the towers together. There are three towers in this game and each one has doors that you will want to connect together. It’s a great game for teaching problem-solving and critical thinking. There is a booklet included with 80 challenges that they can play again and again. The puzzles get increasingly challenging so it’s always pushing them to get better as they play. Check out our video to learn how to play:
My 8-year-old loves this one. She also likes to take a marble and run along the chute once she has it connected. It’s not as easy to travel with as the other two games because there is not a cover but the box is small and light-weight and easy to pack. It’s a great gift idea though for kiddos who like puzzles and games.
Snow White Deluxe:
Snow White Deluxe is a fun and interactive game for younger kiddos. If you would like to introduce puzzle games to your younger kiddos this is a really fun way to do that featuring iconic characters from one of their favorite stories. Suitable for ages 4-7. My 8-year-old had fun with it also. In this game, you use the cottage and figures to figure out where each piece fits in using the 48 different challenges included. See our video on how to play:
This one is really fun for kiddos. It’s got some adorable little characters that make it a fun way to introduce puzzles to younger players. Supporting critical thinking skills is so important and this is a great way to make it more fun. Makes a great gift idea for the younger players on your holiday shopping list.
