Week 5 Update:
Weekly Weight Loss: Total -1.6 Total Weight Loss =20.2
I am a week into my second month of Nutrisystem and I am really starting to feel the benefits. When I started this journey I was a bit nervous about how long I would be able to stay on the diet because in the past (on other diets) I usually hit a wall after a couple of weeks and end up cheating or giving up all together. I have to say Nutrisystem has been very different. I have not had any problems staying on the diet and I can really see this being a program I can use long term. I’m looking at it more as a lifestyle change than a diet. I have even begun thinking about how I can fit the program into my lifestyle with spring coming up.
As I continue my Nutrisystem journey I have embraced that this program is not just a diet it is a lifestyle. I don’t want to look at it as something I will do for a few weeks and then give up on. I really want to look into the future and see myself reaching my weight loss goal. I have even started looking at events we have coming up for the spring and started planning how I will incorporate Nutrisystem into my plans.
This is kind of a first for me in a long time, usually when I am dieting and we go on a trip or we have a holiday I will rationalize to myself that I’ll just have cheat days and then go back to dieting when the event is over. In reality though I will cheat and then I never go back to dieting. So I don’t want this to happen with Nutrisystem and I am planning ahead. I will be planning my Nutrisystem meals into my trips and special events. No more cheat days. I don’t even refer to flex meals as cheat days. I see them as days that I get to practice healthy eating so I will have those skills when I meet my goal.
To prepare for spring I have put together a list of events and trips we have coming up and wrote out a plan to avoid cheating. I even put together a list of some of my favorite spring Nutrisystem meals and flex meals from the leaf. I also plan to avoid eating out, make new non-food traditions for holidays, and plan to stay at places that have gyms when I travel so I can stick to my exercise routine. See my list of my favorite spring Nutrisystem foods below.
Helpful Tips & Tricks:
Since spring is right around the corner I decided to explore the Nutrisystem menu and find some foods that will fit in well with our spring holidays and events. We like to do a lot of BBQ events and spend some time outdoors. So I don’t want to feel deprived while everyone else is having yummy foods grilled on the BBQ. I have a list of nine of my favorites that include three Nutrisystem lunches, three Nutrisystem dinners and three flex recipes from the Nutrisystem leaf website (which is one of myfavorite tools for success).
Nutrisystem Spring Inspired Lunches:
I love the Nutrisystem hamburger. They are super tasty and you can really dress them up by using your extras, veggies, and powerfuels and smartcarbs. I am allowed a powerfuel and smartcarb with each of my lunches so I like to add a piece of low-fat cheese to make a cheeseburger. I also like to put on my favorite veggies like onion, tomato, pickles, and lettuce. Then I usually put some mayo or ketchup and mustard as an extra for the day. I don’t even miss the hamburgers from the grill and I don’t feel left out at all when everyone else is having burgers.
Nutrisystem pulled pork is amazing!! It is one of my all time favorite lunches on the program. I have mine with a smartcarb (which is on my plan for each lunch) and have it with a piece of wheat bread or a whole grain bun. It is really full of flavor. When we make our pulled pork for Easter dinner I can feel like I’m having the same thing! I love it.
When I think spring or summer I think of light foods like tuna salad. The Nutrisystem tuna salad is really good. It’s full of flavor and light and fresh. I like to have mine with some whole grain crackers or whole grain bread. It’s also great to make a lettuce wrap out of.
Nutrisystem Spring Inspired Dinners:
The Nutrisystem BBQ chicken is so good. Full of flavor, I love their BBQ sauce it’s really good. The chicken is very tender and melts in your mouth. I like to serve it with a wheat bun or whole wheat bread. A great garden salad or your favorite veggie is a great side.
As I said we like to have a lot of BBQs in the spring and summer and chicken is one of our favorites for the grill. So I love the Nutrisystem BBQ chicken and beans. The baked beans are amazingly good. Chicken is nice and tender and juicy. I feel like I can have a great time and I get to have the same thing everyone else is having.
The Nutrisystem hickory style hamburger is amazing. Just like the lunch burger I like to dress it up with veggies, a slice of cheese, wheat bun, and some condiments. I have learned when we have company over to avoid questions about why I’m not eating the food, I prepare it in the kitchen and then no one even thinks I am having a different meal. It looks and tastes like a regular burger.
Nutrisytem Leaf Spring Inspired Recipes:
I recently found the recipe for Artisanal Grilled Cheese on the leaf and I am in love with it. If you want a light spring meal this one is perfect. Really good with a side of tomato soup. Find the recipe on the leaf here.
If you are looking for a light pasta salad the Creamy Pasta Salad recipe is perfect. I like to make a lot of pastas in the spring so this one is perfect. I can have a bright pasta salad with some veggies on a warm spring day. You can find the recipe on the leaf here.
Finally this recipe for Pineapple Chicken Kebabs is so yummy. Again we love to grill and kebabs is always on our list of things to throw on the grill in the spring. These are so full of flavor and I love the combination of pineapple and chicken. You can find the recipe on the leaf here.
I hope this collection of meals help you plan for spring. Let me know in the comments what your favorites are.
