My Nutrisystem Journey:
Are you ready for the holidays? I am so excited for Christmas this year. I feel a thousand times better than I did last year. Christmas is my absolute favorite holiday I just love it. Last year though I was so unhealthy I felt like I was on the verge of death most days. Being at such a high weight I could barely walk and I hated leaving the house. My blood sugar was so out of whack from eating bad foods all the time that I would just fall asleep or have a crash and get shaky and sick that I was scared to go out and do anything. So last Christmas was pretty miserable which I hated. It was one of my key reasons to make a change. I knew if I didn’t make a change I may not be around much longer for my kids.
So this year after being on Nutrisystem for a year I am so excited that I can enjoy the holidays. I’m not sick anymore, my blood sugar is under control. No more getting sick or passing out. I feel amazing and I am able to not only be up and doing more and get out of the house but I can be active in the cooking and holiday activities. Instead of watching from the couch I can be involved in the fun. So I can not wait for Christmas to get here this year! I’m so excited to enjoy time with my family this year.
Another thing I’m super excited about for next week is that 150-pound goal. I am so close! Only 1.8 left to lose to get there and I know I can do it. I am beyond thrilled. If you had told me a year ago I’d be 150 pounds lighter I would have never believed you. With Nutrisystem through the year has flown by and the pounds have melted off. I can’t believe how easy it was and how much better I feel. Nutrisystem has literally saved my life. So I have decided to keep going with them! I’m so glad I will be continuing my blogging with them and reaching more goals along the way. It’s going to be another amazing year.
Tips & Tricks:
With the holidays only a week away (I can’t believe it), I decided to focus on some tips to stick to your diet through Christmas (or whatever holiday you may be celebrating). I am feeling so great that I have been doing really well on my plan but all those Christmas foods can be super tempting and I wanted to have a few strategies if I get tempted.
Bring Some Healthy Snacks:
There are so many sweets and not so healthy food choices around during the holidays. It seems like with our family we just eat all day both on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day so it’s hard to avoid the foods. This year I’m going to try to avoid the bad foods by bringing some healthy snacks to set out. Things like nuts, fruit, I love the Nutrisystem popcorn or chocolate covered pretzels too. There are so many healthy options out there that taste great too. So bring some along to fill up on instead of sweets.
Get an Accountability Partner:
So this year I have a friend who is also doing Nutrisystem and wanting to stick to her plan during Christmas. So we are going to support each other by holding each other accountable. We won’t be at the same family events so we plan to snap a photo of everything we plan to eat before we dive in and send it to each other. I think it’s a great way to stick to the plan and keep myself in check. I know if I have to snap a photo of my plate I’m a lot less likely to overfill it or put things I can’t have on it.
Focus on the Positives:
I recently read an article on the Leaf by Nutrisystem about using positivity to make the holidays better. I really liked the article (find it here). They talked about not looking at the holidays as something you have to “overcome” or “survive”. To make it positive and focus on the good things like spending time with family, feeling better and healthier, etc. So I am giving thanks to Nutrisystem this year and I’m going to soak in every moment of being involved with the holidays and spending time with my family this year. Instead of watching from the coach or missing it because I didn’t want to leave the house. It’s going to be a wonderful Christmas and I can’t wait.
How are you attacking the holidays this year?
