Nutrisystem Week 37 Update:
Weight Loss this Week: -3.0 Total Weight Loss: -122.6
So I am one week into my new 3 month quarter on Nutrisystem and I am feeling strong. I feel like I have a handle on things, and I have my little routine that works for me. I have noticed that when I have a busy week (like last week) I struggle to stick to my routine though. That got me thinking about the important elements of my routine, how I can stick to them, and how to prepare for busy weeks. I came up with a prep sheet to start using on Sundays and I wanted to share what I’m doing to prepare for a good week.
My Nutrisystem Journey:
I love these little check-ins each week so I really hope you guys don’t mind them. It’s my place to just reflect on the week, explore what happened, figure out what’s working for me, and just get it down in a format that I can revisit over and over again. If you have never tried blogging you should consider it, it’s like one big journal for me. If you do blog let me know in the comments where to find you, I love reading what others are doing as well.
This week I really felt positive the entire week. I feel like I have really found a routine that works well for me. I have formed some great new habits that promote my healthier lifestyle and they have become like second nature to me. In fact, I don’t really have to think about it anymore. If someone offers me things I shouldn’t have it’s like an automatic response to decline. Regardless of what diet plan you use I love that feeling of confidence when you get into the habit of following the program. It’s no longer a struggle, it’s become a lifestyle.
This week I found myself hitting a few speed bumps in my routine though due to having a really busy week. There is nothing like getting more active and doing more because you have lost weight and feel so full of energy but now those activities are interrupting your healthy lifestyle. I am a big planner, I have like three calendars, phone apps, and bullet journals to keep track of my life. Since Sunday is such a slow day for us I have turned it into my planning day. I plan my entire week out. This week I decided to set down and make a little checklist of things to do on Sunday to set me up for success throughout the week.
Tips & Tricks:
Use Sunday as your battle planning day or if Sundays don’t work for you pick a different day just as long as you have a day during your week that you can plan for success. Here are the things I’m doing to prepare for a good week.
Plan Your Menu-
For me, it’s pretty easy because I use Nutrisystem and I have a lot of meals prepared for me in advance. That’s one of the huge reasons I love this program. I do have some flex meals and snacks that are on my own though. So I set down and write out a plan for the entire week. What meals I will be having, any meals I need to prepare for myself, and of course, I plan to have healthy snacks with me. This is a lifesaver for me because I don’t have to think!
Shop From Your Menu-
Now that you have that menu make a detailed list for the store and stick to it. I do all of my shopping on Sunday afternoon for the entire week. I make my list from my menu and I don’t stray from it. To help me make sure I don’t stray from it I never go to the store when I’m hungry and I bring a healthy snack to munch on if I do get hungry while looking at all the food in the store.
If you have read my blog before then you know that I am big on meal prepping. I pre-make meals that I will need for flex days and freeze them. I prepare and pack anything that I will need for the day before and put them in the fridge so I can grab and go. It’s a lot easier to make good choices when I’m in a hurry if they are ready to go. Check out my tips on meal prep.
Schedule Your Workouts-
I am a huge slacker when it comes to working out and I know I need to get much better at this. I’m horrible about it. I do plan ahead though. I sit down and schedule when I will workout and what I plan to do for my workout. I just need to get better at sticking to the plan. This is probably my biggest weakness. I am currently looking for a workout partner though to help to keep me accountable and give me the motivation to get to the workouts (I wouldn’t want to let anyone down so I think this might help me stick to it).
Create a Sleep Routine-
Finally, create a healthy sleep schedule. I know it may not seem like it belongs on a weight loss plan but it does. I am way more likely to go with what’s easiest rather than what’s right when I’m tired. When I have a busy week it is mandatory for me to stick to a sleep pattern and get enough sleep to help me stay motivated and stick to my diet plans.
What are your tips for planning? How do you plan ahead for a successful week?
