Nutrisystem Week 32 Update:
Weight Loss this Week: -3.2 Total Weight Loss: -108.4
So I have really been struggling this week with negativity. If you have followed my social media then you know I had a very bad experience that left me feeling very hurt and upset based on what someone said about my weight loss progress. I felt pretty down most of the week and questioning lots of things. It even had me questioning my Nutrisystem journey. Instead of dwelling on this situation though I’ve decided to seek out positive ways to overcome negative situations. The last thing I want to do is get in a negative mind set and have it affect my weight loss. So this week I’m sharing some tips I found to help me overcome negativity.
My Nutrisystem Journey:
I don’t really want to make this post negative in any way so I won’t be sharing the story of what happened. I have shared it on my YouTube channel though so you can see it there if you would like to hear it. Basically, what it comes down to is that I feel like I have been doing really well and making a ton of changes and I learned this week that not everyone sees my progress the same as me.
Yes, I know that what others think doesn’t make a difference in my life. However, when you have feelings it’s difficult to shut them off. Regardless, I saw it as a negative thing that really affected my attitude during the week. Which is entirely my fault, I should not let other’s opinions affect my progress and attitude at all. So regardless of whether the negativity was right or wrong, I allowed it to affect me so I am in the wrong.
After a few days of negativity, I could really see a difference in my attitude. I think my food addicted brain was trying to use it as an excuse or justification to cheat on my diet or just quit. Dieting is hard work and after 8 months I have been struggling with will power already so I think I was just using this as an opportunity to give up. Luckily, I was quick to recognize that old pattern of behavior and turn my attitude around. So I decided to share 3 tips I used this week to help me through the process.
Tips & Tricks:
Be Honest With Yourself
If you notice that you are allowing negativity to affect you then be honest with yourself about why you are allowing it. Are you struggling with will power like I was? Do you need to improve your motivation? Are you looking for excuses and justifications? Own your role in the negativity and whether you are fighting against it or feeding into it.
Stand Up For Yourself
It’s ok to speak out. I got both good and bad feedback on the video I made and shared. Most were supportive of me and told me what a great job I was doing. I had a few tell me I was being stupid and just feeding into the negativity. I even had a brand rep reach and out tell me they were no longer going to work with me based on the video I shared. I don’t really feel like it was that negative and I think maybe my message didn’t come across. However, I am not sorry that I stood up for myself at all. I am happy that I shared how I felt at the time. I’m past it now and staying on track. I managed to have a great week anyways even with the setback. If anything it has given me more motivation to say “I’ll show you”. I thinking sharing how you feel, whether that is through a blog or in your won private personal journal the process is cathartic. You can give those negative feelings a place to exsist and then have control over shutting them down and turning them off.
Surround Yourself with Positivity
So if you have had a lot of negative energy in your life then turn it around and surround yourself with positivity. This was easy for me because I had hundreds of messages of support from my followers, friends, and family. That positivity was so helpful and made me feel like people care and have shown me that one opinion doesn’t matter. I also went out and did some positive things to just change my energy. So if you’re feeling down then go do some random acts of kindness, go out and have some laughs, spend time with people you love, just anything to get your back on the positive side of things.
