Who Would Enjoy This Game:
Blast Box is designed for ages 4 and up and 2-4 players. This is a great game for younger players because the gameplay is very easy. With the excitement of not knowing who will pop the balloons though it’s enjoyable for all ages. It’s not very competitive so you will not have to worry about any competition arguments. It’s a great time for the entire family.
Is It Fun:
Yes, it’s a blast (no pun intended). There is lots of anticipation as to when the balloon will pop. You never know since you can not see inside the box if you are hammering into a balloon or not until it pops. We laughed a lot as the balloons popped and sighed relief when we didn’t pop them. It was a great game for the family game night.
The gameplay is very simple. To set up you will need to blow up a balloon for each player and place them under the blast box. They include balloons for you along with an air pump and easy tie cards. It makes blowing up the balloons very easy. Just wrap the end of the balloon around the card a couple of times to secure it. You can use them over and over again as well which is nice.
On your turn, you will spin the spinner and it will tell you what to do. You may land on nail spaces (it will tell you how many nails to insert either 1, 2, or 3), or you might land on the skip space meaning you will not have to insert any this turn, or you might land on a reverse space which means the order reverses. Once you determine how many nails you need to insert grab that number and hammer them in until it’s completely inserted.
While you are hammering your nail into place make sure to listen if you pop a balloon. If you pop a balloon you are out of the game. Keep playing until there is only one player left they are the winner.
If your child doesn’t like the sound of popping balloons then this game is not for you. It’s not super loud because they are under a box. However, it’s a little scary because you never know when they will pop. We thought it was a blast but our pets really disliked it. Also be careful of the balloons after they pop if playing with young children, make sure to clean those pieces up right away.
