I am so excited for this week’s Family Game Night. I am a die-hard, watch it every chance I get, can’t live without it fan of The Walking Dead so when I found out that USAopoly had a themed version of Clue featuring The Walking Dead we had to get it and play it! We love classic board games and Clue is one of our favorites, so it’s a perfect combination. We also tried out some really yummy oreo brownies from Mrs. Freshleys. They were full of Oreo flavor and super delicious.
The Walking Dead Clue is set in Alexandria and your mission is to find out what happened while you were away on a run. When you return the guards are gone and the town is surrounded by walkers. Play the classic board game to figure out who did it, where, and with what. There are a few twists on the classic game play to really keep you on your toes as well.
In the box you will find:
A game board (featuring classic locations from the town)
6 Character Pieces (Daryl, Carol, Rick, Michone, Negan, & Glen)
6 Weapon Pieces (crossbow, knife, Lucille, shotgun, pistol, and hatchet)
A deck of intrigue cards
A deck of rumor cards
6 Character special cards
1 pad of game cards
Who Would Enjoy This Game:
This game is suitable for ages 18 and up and 2-6 players. Now, I think the age is set so high because of the adult content of the theme. However, the gameplay is suitable for younger players. I let my 16-year-old watch the show and play the game and we all loved it. My 8-year-old doesn’t watch the show so she didn’t really get the theme, there is nothing “adult” about the cards or content in the game. However, clue has proved to be difficult for her to play so we let her just join in on a team with one of us to feel like she’s playing. Anyone who loves The Walking Dead would find this game really fun. If you are a clue fan this is a great version of it with some extras that add to the fun.
Is It Fun:
We really enjoyed it. It’s great for an older group because it makes you think, I love puzzle and solving games so I really enjoyed it. As I mentioned the theme really made it more fun because we love the show so much. It’s not really a laugh and silly game but really enjoyable because of the difficulty level and strategy aspects of it.
To set up the game put your board out on the table. Place all of the characters and weapons in the middle start square in the center. Shuffle the intrigue cards and set them to the side of the board. Sort the rumor cards into weapons, characters, and locations. Randomly draw a card from each pile and make sure no one sees it (including yourself) and place the three cards into the brown envelope. Set this to the side of the board. Each player will need to choose a character (you will use all six characters in the game even if you have less than six players). Each player will also need a game card to keep track of rumors. The remaining cards in the rumor deck should be dealt to the players evenly. If you have cards that are leftover place them face up next to the board. Each player should look through their cards (don’t show them to anyone) and mark on your card any of the items you have in your hand. Now you are ready to start!
On your turn roll the dice. You may move the designated number rolled on the dice (add the two numbers together). Your goal is to move into a location to make a rumor. If you roll a ? you will draw an intrigue card (more on that in a minute). If you make your way to a location then you can make a rumor. To make a rumor you will choose a character (move them to that room) and a weapon (move it to that room). The player to your left will look at their cards and see if they can prove your rumor wrong. If they can they will show you a card that proves it wrong. If they can’t then the next player will try and so on. If no one can prove you wrong then your turn ends. The character and weapon you moved stay in that room after your turn. Mark down any new information on your card. Play continues to the next person.
There are some special things in this version. The intrigue cards are used if you roll a question mark, if you land on a red question mark square on the board, or if someone moves you to a room as part of their rumor. These cards have different directions on them like get an extra turn, sneak a peek at someone’s card, etc. Some of them have zombies on them though. If you draw a zombie put it on the side of the board. There are eight zombies, if you draw the 8th zombie then you are out of the game. Once that happens collect all 8 zombies shuffle the intrigue cards so that way they are still in play. There are also special character cards, each character has a different special card. You will be able to play your character’s special card once during the game (so use strategy to decide the best time to use it).
Keep playing and making rumors until you have enough information to know who did it, with what weapon, and where. Once you think you have the answer move back to the center space and make your accusation. You will then look at the cards in the envelope (don’t let anyone see). If you are right, reveal it to the other players. If you are wrong then put the cards back in the envelope. You are out (keep answering questions on rumors though) but you can not make any more rumors or guesses. Play continues with the remaining players until someone gets the right answer.
I don’t have any concerns with it, just make sure it’s age appropriate for your children. As I said, there is no “adult” content in the cards or on the board. The zombie cards are kinda scary for children, but you will have to decide if your kiddo can handle it or not.

For our snack tonight we had some really yummy brownies from Mrs. Freshley’s. They have a new Oreo brownie out that is amazingly yummy. They are nice big brownies, soft and chewy and full of flavor.
What is Mrs. Freshley’s:
Mrs. Freshley’s is a great little bakery company that has a ton of yummy fresh treats. They have lots to choose from in their inventory. You can find yummy breakfast options like honey buns or you can get some yummy desserts like brownies. They take pride in providing fresh and delicious foods to their consumers.
New Oreo Brownie:
Mrs. Freshley’s is proud to announce their newest brownie the Oreo brownie. It’s so good. A large brownie that is full of chewy chocolate and Oreo cookies. They even sprinkle some Oreos on top for a little extra Oreo flavor.
They make a great game night snack. My kiddos loved them and was sad I only got them one each. I think they would have eaten twelve each if I let them. They made the game night a little more sweet.
