This week on family game night we played are really fun and fast paced game called Ring It from Blue Orange games. It had us laughing all night long and racing to be the first to ring the bell. We had so much fun with it the kiddos didn’t want to stop playing. It’s full of color matching, number matching, symbol matching, and racing fun. We also marked an item off our summer bucket list and had some yummy root beer floats.
Ring It from Blue Orange games is a lot of fun. It’s pretty simple to play so even young players can enjoy it (plus it helps them learn color, symbol or number matching) and it’s fast paced and full of laughs so the entire family can have fun with it. Racing to the bell was probably our favorite part, seeing who could be the quickest to reach it, laughing when someone snuck in there faster then you, and piling our hands on the bell all at the same time. It is a lot of laughs.
Inside the can you will find:
1 Deck of Ring It cards (90)
Who Would Enjoy This Game:
It is designed for ages 5 and up. Any kiddo who knows how to match colors, numbers, or shapes could easily play this game. It’s great for teaching this skill too. The play is very simple so younger kids really enjoy it. It’s fast paced and interesting enough that older kids and adults enjoy it too. So it becomes more about the racing for older players but it’s still a lot of fun.
Game play is very easy. To set up the game set the bell in the middle of the table so everyone can easily reach it. Deal 10 cards face down to each player and set their pile of cards in front of them.
Now take turns flipping over cards one at a time. When you see cards that match either in color or number then you clap and then ring the bell. If you are the first player to clap & ring then you get to take the face up cards and add them to your pile. If you see a special Ring It card you also clap and ring. Again if you are the fastest you add the face up cards to your pile. There is one other special card called the trick cards. They look just like ring it cards but with a skull and crossbones on it. Don’t mess up and ring it, if you do then you have add the face up cards and 3 from your pile to the main deck out of play.
You continue to play until someone runs out of cards. When someone runs out of cards, the players with cards left will count their cards left in their face down pile. The person with the most cards wins! Then you can play another round.
The instructions have other variations to the game but this is the basic play. Variations include matching symbols as well. Changing the clap and ring to anotehr action. So someone can pick and make up a funny move like jump up and down and ring it, Stand on one foot and ring it, or fake a sneeze and ring it. The sillier the better. So there are a lot of different ways you can mix it up if you want to make it more difficult or want something different then the basic version.
There are no concerns with this one. Anyone can play it, it’s enjoyed by a variety of ages, and it’s tons of fun. It has some great educational properties for younger players teaching about matching. It’s really fun.
