This week our kiddos are finally back home! We really missed them while they were away visiting grandparents for the summer. We welcomed them back with a really fun dice game from Blue Orange Games called Dice Stack. It’s a fast paced and somewhat challenging game. If you like puzzles this will be a fun one for you. While we played we snacked on some yummy Welch’s Fruit Snacks. They sent us Berries ‘N Cherries to try out and it was full of berry yumminess.
Dice Stack from Blue Orange Games is a lot of fun. If you like trying to figure out puzzles like Tetris or puzzles where you try to figure out how things fit together this will be really fun for you. It’s challenging so it’s fun for older kids and adults but the game play is easy enough that it can be enjoyed by a wide range of ages. It’s a fast-paced game that is great for a quick family game night. Plus it is really addictive once you get started playing it.
6 Colored Dice
1 golden Die
1 storage bag
Who Would Enjoy This Game:
This game is designed for ages 7 and up. We found it fairly easy to play when it came to how the game is played but stacking the dice can be really tricky. Our youngest is 8 and she struggled a little at first but quickly picked up some dice stacking skills. Stacking the dice is so challenging and addictive to get them as high as you can that it’s enjoyed by older kids and adults as well. It’s one of those “oh darn” moments when you’re so close to breaking your dice stacking record and the tumble down on you. So this is great if you have a wide range of ages in your group or family.
Is It Fun:
Yes, it is a lot of fun. I found myself getting competitive on this one trying to beat how many dice I could stack on each try and groan when they would fall over. We shared a lot of laughs when the dice fell over though, seeing each other get so close to having them topple over was a hoot. If you like games that make you think you will have a lot of fun with this one.
Gameplay is pretty simple on this one. To set up the game put the dice in the middle of the table so each player can easily reach them. Set the gold die close by in case it is needed. Have a sheet of paper and a pen nearby to keep score.
On your turn, you will roll the six colored dice. Then you will begin to stack them starting with the lowest number and moving up. So in the example above you would start with stacking the ones on top of each and then the four and finally the two sixes. You can stop at any time and take your points or chance it and keep going. You can also choose whether you want to attempt to stack the gold die on your stack to double your points. You do not have stack all six colored dice to use the golden die. You will keep playing until one player reaches the number assigned to win the game.
I have no concerns with this one. Just make sure it is age appropriate for your child. It is designed for ages 7 and up and I think that younger than 7 might get frustrated or struggle with stacking the dice.
