Nutrisystem Week 16 Update:
Weight Loss this week: -6.0 Total Weight Loss: -60.2
This week brought a follow up at the doctor’s office for me. It was so nice not having to worry when I went to the office. With continued success I am looking forward to summer and with summer comes more on the go days and travel. I have started the process of planning ahead and wanted to share some tips with my readers on staying on track with your weight loss while on the go and traveling.
My Nutrisystem Journey:
When I started Nutrisystem I had so much to lose they were a little worried about me on the program and wanted to make sure it would be the right choice for me so I had my doctor evaluate my health and the plan and she approved me to start my journey. Now that I have been on the program for a few months we had a follow up scheduled this week. I knew she would be happy with my weight loss but I was nervous if it would translate to other things like my blood pressure, blood sugar, and other health issues she was concerned about.
I am happy to report that I had a perfect follow up at the office. It’s been a long time since I had a perfect visit. Usually my appointments are full of warnings and concern about my different numbers and encouragements to lose weight. This week it was full of kind words about how well I was doing and positive results like a normal blood pressure, normal blood sugar and normal blood work. I was so excited.
As I have said before I am so happy about the change in my appearance but I am even more happy about the changes in my health. The reason I wanted to lose weight was to get healthier so I could do more, enjoy time with my family, and be here longer. As a mom your worst fear is leaving your kids to early so I am doing anything I can to make sure that I am here a long time. I will have another follow up in 3 months so I am hoping to have even more progress and successes to share with my doctor. She told me to keep going on Nutrisystem for sure, it’s working!
Tips & Tricks:
For me summer means lots of busy days where we are out and about and it also means more travel. With summer break only two weeks away (I know it’s crazy) I have started thinking about the best way to stay on track with Nutrisystem while I’m on the go. I put together some tips I will be using to stay focused.
1. Plan ahead:
On Nutrisystem you get snacks throughout the day to keep your hunger at bay. They call these powerfuels and smart carbs so I plan to pack some yummy snacks to take with me when we will be out and about. Some of my favorites are cheese sticks, whole wheat crackers, peanut better to go, veggies, fruits, and Nutrisystem crush bars.
2. Use the Eating Out Guide:
Never eating out is not realistic especially when you are traveling so I use the Nutrisystem eating out guide that comes with your program. It’s also available on their website and Numi app. The booklet is small though so I can easily throw it in my purse and take it with me. It gives you specific examples from all the popular restaurants, straight from the menu. Tells you how to count it in your program as a Nutrisystem meal, smart carb, power fuel, extra, veggie, etc. It’s so convenient. I can even look ahead and see what restaurants are around where we will be and pull up the menu ahead of time using the guide I can know what to order before I even get there.
3. Find Ways to Incorporate Exercise:
When I’m on the go it’s a perfect time to burn a few extra calories. I like to park further away in the parking lot, take the stairs instead of the elevator, go places where we can get in some extra walking like the mall, and do things that keep us active like taking the kids to the pool or riding bikes. It’s a great way to stay on track with your weight loss.
4. Stay Accountable:
It’s really easy to slack off when you are busy or traveling. You make food choices without thinking about it. It’s a good time to get an accountability partner. I have a friend that I use that I snap a photo of what I’m eating and text it to her. I did this with a nutritionist for a long time too. I am a lot more likely to make healthy choices if I have to send a photo of what I’m eating to someone. Social media can be good for this too. Set up an Instagram page just for your healthy food choices, you won’t want to disappoint your friends and fans.
5. Drink Lots of Water:
In Oklahoma it gets really hot in the summer time and it’s so important to stay hydrated. My body tends to start storing water if I let it get dehydrated so I make it a priority to drink lots of water in the summer months. I do anyways but drink extra in warmer months. I stay healthier, my body is happier, and it even helps keep me feeling fuller.
What are your tips for staying on track when you are on the go? I would love to hear more tips in the comments.
