I like to have fun in the summer but I also feel a sense of obligation to mention a very important topic. If you read my blog you might know that I am a retired drug and alcohol counselor. I worked in the field for over seven years and the last couple years I worked on a contract with the state of Oklahoma to do drug and alcohol assessments and classes for DUI offenders. So I have a lot experience with dangers associated with drinking and driving. I also have a very personal experience with drinking and driving and lost a close family member to an accident where the driver was drinking. So I always want to take a minute to do my part to remind everyone I can to drink responsibly during the summer months when alcohol is more prevalent and outdoor events are in full swing.
I recently found a product called the Alcomate Revo that is a huge help for those wanting to drink responsibly this summer. The Alcomate Revo is a breathalyzer machine that will accurately test your blood alcohol concentration within seconds. It’s a great way to make sure all of the alcohol is out of your system before you attempt to drive.
The set comes with everything you need. The reader, batteries, tubes for the test, and even a carrying case. This machine is more accurate than the ones designed the work with your phone. It’s approved by DOT and meets industry standards so you know it’s accurate when you use it.
It’s really simple to use just insert one of the tubes and blow into it until you hear it beep that it is completed. Your test reading will read on the screen on the front. It’s the only way to know if your BAC is at zero so you can drive. Remember alcohol starts to affect your judgment (and your driving) at only .05 BAC. You may not feel any different but it can make you react second slower which can cause a wreck. The only truly safe BAC to drive at is 0.
As I always told my client there is absolutely nothing wrong with going out and having fun but don’t drink and drive. If you have alcohol in your system walk, call for a ride, get a bus, or a taxi. Whatever you need to do but don’t drive. It is not worth your life or someone else’s.
